About Salty Ballers / Baller Verified
How verification
works.
A living cruising resource built from firsthand boating experience, official sources, and useful updates from the boating community.
Our purpose
Built by boaters.
Made to keep changing.
We are Salty Ballers, a community of boaters who love exploring the waterways around the world. Our goal is to create a trusted, ever-evolving resource for the boating community.
The guidebooks many of us rely on are invaluable, but they are typically published only once a year. By the time they reach the water, something has often already changed — a new business opens, a dock closes, conditions shift, or the weather brings new challenges. Like boating itself, the information we rely on needs to be dynamic and adaptable.
We started with the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest because they are close to home and a place we know and love. Our first version of the website is now live, and we would truly appreciate your feedback, suggestions, and ideas as we continue to build it.
The verification standard
What the mark means.
Baller Verified identifies dated firsthand experience. It complements—but never replaces—current official charts, notices, regulations, weather, and local information.
Arrive by boat
We experience the approach, landing, moorage, and stay from a boater’s perspective.
Record useful details
We focus on the practical questions boaters ask about docks, buoys, anchoring, hazards, services, and shore access.
Date the visit
Verified notes include a visible visit or update date so readers understand when conditions were observed.
Keep the line clear
Firsthand observations remain distinct from researched facts and links to authoritative information.
How you can help
The guide gets better when boaters share what changed.
In these early stages, we are collecting information through email and updating the site as quickly as possible. While we are continually improving the content, we are also working on better tools and systems to make future updates more streamlined and automated.
We are excited to build this resource with the boating community and can’t wait to hear your feedback, ideas, and experiences. Together, we can create something that helps boaters explore with more confidence and connection.
The long-term vision
“Up-to-date trip information boaters can download before heading out.”
Our long-term vision is to provide up-to-date trip information that boaters can download before heading out, recognizing that connectivity can be limited once you are on the water.
