Matia Island Marine State Park encompasses a limited public-use area within a 145-acre island that forms part of the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
The island has approximately 20,676 feet of shoreline along the Strait of Georgia. Public recreation is intentionally concentrated around Rolfe Cove.
An evergreen-canopy trail edged with ferns leads through the public area, opens to a dramatic cove, and loops back toward the dock.

The Rolfe Cove public-use area includes campsites and restrooms maintained by Washington State Parks. Confirm current availability and fees before departure.
Trail
The forest loop is the island’s principal public walking route. Remain on the established trail and within the designated beach and campground areas.
